Jess Procter | cargocollective.com/jessprocter

Hello, My name is Jess Procter and I'm currently studying illustration at The London Arts. My work consists of a blend of paper cutting and collage, I have recently fallen in love with making shadows and projection. You can see it in my latest project 'Electricity where I built a shadow light lamp which rotates to cast large shadows, I cut the city out of soft wood using a laser cutter and hand painted the light bulb to get the glow affect and the turn table I built using parts of a microwave, MDF wood, a motor, and an elastic band. Here are some stills and it in motion as well. My inspirations come from old books, fairy tales, nature, castles and finding interesting objects. I hope you enjoy my work, if you wish to see more please visit my website cargocollective.com/jessprocter or my tumblr jessprocter.tumblr.com

Douglas Wood | mrdouglaswood.com

I am a final year student of Product Design at Dundee University. I like to take into consideration the whole process of a project, from design, through manufacture, right up until packaging and shipping. It makes projects have more depth and realism. My project for this year has looked at the technology addiction that young people are starting to have and how it ends up keeping them up at night instead of sleeping. By choosing to use their phone instead of sleeping could have adverse effects on their mental and physical health. My project, 夜間night*, aims to help, first by being a mood light that helps the user get to sleep, and secondly, if their phone receives a message, the phone is basically amplified, flashing brightly and vibrating disturbing the user and encouraging them to turn their phone off.

Lee Gascoyne | leegascoyne.blogspot.com

Lee Gascoyne graduated in 2011 with a first class honors degree in Interdisciplinary Art & Design and was awarded the Chancellor’s Prize for outstanding achievement. Lee has been part of several group exhibitions and collaborative works that span painting, sculpture and installation. He is currently working on a private painting commission and has a major collaborative exhibition in the pipeline for 2013.

“When I make artwork it not only represents my journey to make the finished piece but also includes, and plays with, the recognition of its observation by others. I am aware of myself having ideas and making things, and I’m also aware of the space between this process and the observer (the context of which is also considered). I do not expect the observer to ‘get it’ as I do not feel I’m actually injecting precise information that can be read like a book given enough intelligence. This imagined space is what I find to be the ultimate end/beginning point of a piece of art. It’s the point where I’m not involved in the rigors of thinking and doing. I have a chance to see the work again as an observer and to also learn from others in the process of repeatedly attempting to express the indefinable.”

At first glance the drawer is not immediately obvious but with a simple touch a drawer emerges providing extra surface area when needed. When extended, the desk not only reveals extra workspace, it also provides enough hidden storage space for most work accessories.

Made from solid American White Oak and designed with a minimal aesthetic, Extend is designed to fit within the home environment and stand the test of time.

Extend
can be made in a variety of dimensions, wall mounted, or provided with a tubular steel under-frame.
