Gavin Rutherford is a freelance Illustrator and recent graduate from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, Scotland. Gavin combines his technical software knowledge with traditional illustrative and pattern-making talents to produce extraordinarily detailed, intriguing and beautiful designs.
With a varied and extensive portfolio, Gavin's design practice and projects are a treat to browse through- from book cover designs for Penguin student competitions, to editorial work, to a project for the prestigious D&AD awards show, etc; there is something for everyone to enjoy, and feel a certain degree of wonder (and just a hint of jealousy, naturally).
The projects that we particularly enjoyed of Gavin's, and feel showcase his talents to his true potential, are in the 'Illustration' section of his portfolio- with wonderfully intricate designs based around the theme of 'space', which are just as fantastical and fascinating as the theme itself.
